Produced by Modern Theatres, Mega Hit “Manonmani” P.U.Chinnappa had acted as Chera king, Purushoththaman. He played this role most majestically and in an unique style. In a particular scene in the film, in which he converses with an ambassador of a foreign country, he walks here and there in a stylish manner, holding a lemon fruit in his hand, often throwing it in the air and recatching it as he walks and continues his conversation.

Like that when king Pandia’s minister Kudilan, spinning a plot against his own king, meets the Chera king, P.U.Chinnappa, the latter doesn’t fall in his trap but rather starts mocking at him and teases him with scornful words. In that scene Chinnappa’s acting style would bewitch the hearts of the audience!

“Is it you in your country who catches the fly and brings it to the jack fruit?”. “Does your tongue dare betray the very king on whose’ mercy you have nurtured your fleshy, fatty physique?”—thus Purushoththaman scornfully warns Kudilan with harsh words.

In this movie T.R.Rajakumari had acted as Manonmani. R.Balasubramaniam had done the Kudilan role. His son’s role was done by T.S.Balaiya! T.R.Mahalingam, K.K.Perumal and such efficient artists were also there.
